Isaiah 60:2 -
“See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.”
Could that be true? Christians have got something that everyone else wants? It’s not what people generally think. But is that because they don’t know what we’ve got?
When you rise above the fog into dazzling sunshine, that’s the picture of what it is to become a Christian. For all the good bits, life is full of darkness and fog - and it’s getting worse: recession, government cuts, family breakdown, unemployment, addictions, relationship break-ups, pension cuts… The fog’s getting thicker and thicker. No wonder so many people spiral into depression - they’re just the ones who see how bad it is.
But becoming a Christian is like coming into the light. Through all that, you see what life is really for and really about. For us, it’s heading to an eternal glory with Jesus. We’ve got purpose, a future - and God will see to it that many people come out of the fog into the light.
Wellfield: people around us need what we’ve got - the message about Jesus. Let’s shine that light and let them see how great it is. What a relief it is for people when they do!
